This is my first time using the “New Artist” title for a blog but it seemed like there was no other way to introduce this artist than by calling him a “new artist”. He goes by the name of Tone Stith and he is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter/producer hailing from my hometown,
Houston, TX, he is actually from the tri-state area, just not sure where. Tone Stith was first introduced to the world when he received writer and producer credits on the 2015 Chris Brown hit, “Liquor”. I love reading writing credits and all that so when “Liquor” came out, I remember going to Wikipedia and first discovering Tone Stith that way. I’m almost positive I then searched for him on Instagram and began scrolling from there. Tone Stith is signed to Young Empire Music Group, which is run by Jas Prince.
Tone Stith is an R&B singer and to me, he’s not like any of the other male R&B singers out right now. Tone Stith has actual vocal talent, vocal ability, unlike many of these mainstream R&B singers, and that’s not shade, it’s just facts. I find myself not enjoying many of the current male R&B acts right now, but Tone Stith’s music is not like what I have been hearing from the others. Again, I love his voice and I love his writing style. He has old school lyrics with new school beats. I think Tone Stith can make some head way in this industry, especially with the likes of Drake cosigning you. Last week, Champagnepapi posted to his Instagram a video of Tone Stith rehearsing while covering his song, “Maddiba Riddim”. I loved the cover, I felt he gave “Maddiba Riddim” a new life with the way he sang it. I hope to be hearing more from Tone Stith very soon and also, check out his EP titled Can We Talk on all streaming services.
a couple videos and songs below…

New music from Tyler, the Creator! This time featuring Frank Ocean!
Tyler, the Creator must be gearing up for an album release because he recently released a few new songs. One song was called “Who Dat Boy” featuring ASAP Rocky and the other song is a two-parter titled “911/Mr. Lonely” featuring Frank Ocean. “911” has an easy-going feel to it, sounds like a song that could have been on Tyler’s last album, Cherry Bomb. “911” is just about Tyler wanting this girl to call him sometime, so simple yet direct. The chorus also features the incredible Steve Lacy on the backing vocals, adding his impeccable tone to the chorus. He’s so dope. Frank Ocean also comes in towards the end of the song, singing a couple bars. Then Tyler raps a couple bars to end this part of the song. I just love hearing music like this and to know that this is the direction music is going in makes me so happy, just good music that’s not about drugs and other bullsh-t, just music that makes you feel good. Makes you want to sing along.
“Mr. Lonely” is the second part of the song. It has an intro and it features Tyler, ASAP Rocky, and Schoolboy Q and they’re repeating, “I can’t even lie I’ve been lonely as f-ck”, they say that line multiple times then Tyler goes off for many bars. The way Tyler raps, you can’t necessarily catch what he’s saying, you always have to read the lyrics to understand what he’s talking about. But it’s really good nonetheless.
I am not sure when this untitled Tyler, the Creator is coming out but I will stay updated on that. I haven’t anticipated a Tyler, the Creator album in awhile but I’m ready for this one.
The time has come. I FINALLY get the chance to review one of the most anticipated albums of the year! SZA, after many years of delays and such, finally released her debut album, Ctrl. So without further ado, let’s review shall we? Continue reading ALBUM REVIEW: SZA- ‘Ctrl’
SZA is gearing up for her debut album release and building a huge buzz in the process. SZA has now released three singles in preparation for her album, “Drew Barrymore”, “Love Galore”, and now “Broken Clocks”. All three of those aforementioned songs could individually be lead singles for anybody’s album but SZA has all three on her album and it’s not even out yet! Continue reading NEW SONG: SZA- “Broken Clocks”

ATTENTION! PSA! Kali Uchis will be releasing her debut studio album very soon! I repeat! Kali Uchis will be… yeah she just released her first single from her debut album.
As of right now, there is no album title or release date for Kali Uchis’ debut album but what I do know is that the album is coming soon. Last year, Kali released a song called “Only Girl” featuring Steve Lacy and that song lead many of us to believe the album was on the way… not quite. Kali released that song April of 2016 and we are now at the end of May 2017. That’s not the point though… the album is near this time, I know it and she starts this Untitled album era off right with the song “Tyrant”. “Tyrant” features British singer Jorja Smith (who was featured on Drake’s album More Life) and this song is wow. First, I must ask… has Kali Uchis missed yet? No. Second, I’m so happy she put Jorja on this song, she’s sooo dope to me.
“Tyrant” has so many different flavors. It is dancehall-like, but Kali is also singing in Spanish at various parts in the song. It’s just a song that instantly makes you want to dance. Kali and Jorja are both singing about a love that they never want to let go of and I guess the title comes from the lyrics basically saying that neither wants to let the other have control of the relationship. Oh yeah, I love Jorja’s voice, I’m ready for her solo project. She was great on “Get It Together” with Drake and she makes another strong case for herself with “Tyrant”. Two amazingly dope female artists. #GirlPower
There is no album title or release date for Kali Uchis but I will make sure to post about it when it is released or whatever. If you haven’t already, listen to Kali’s solo project that “put her on the map” if you will, it’s called Por Vida. It’s on every music outlet so go listen, you won’t be disappointed.
I can’t say this song is new, but it’s pretty new to me so just go with it.
There is a new artist on the horizon and her name is Kodie Shane. She is an 18 year old rapper/singer from Atlanta and she is creating her own lane. Kodie has this Pop-R&B sound while rapping/singing over trap beats that no one is really doing right now. Her soft voice also makes for a good pop sound so I think she has a future. Kodie has a song out called “Can You Handle It” and it’s a young love, you’re my boyfriend-type song. Continue reading NEW SONG: Kodie Shane- “Can You Handle It”
